오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라

[여호수아가 세겜에 모인 백성에게 이르다]
1.  여호수아가 이스라엘 모든 지파를 세겜에 모으고

이스라엘 장로들과 그 두령들과 재판장들과 유사들을 부르매 그들이 하나님 앞에 보인지라
2.  여호수아가 모든 백성에게 이르되

이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀에 옛적에 너희 조상들

곧 아브라함의 아비, 나홀의 아비 데라가 강 저편에 거하여 다른 신들을 섬겼으나
3.  내가 너희 조상 아브라함을 강 저편에서 이끌어내어 가나안으로 인도하여
14.  그러므로 이제는 여호와를 경외하며 성실과 진정으로 그를 섬길 것이라

너희의 열조가 강 저편과 애굽에서 섬기던 신들을 제하여 버리고 여호와만 섬기라
15.  만일 여호와를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 좋지 않게 보이거든

너희 열조가 강 저편에서 섬기던 신이든지 혹 너희의 거하는 땅 아모리 사람의 신이든지

너희 섬길 자를 오늘날 택하라

오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라
16.  백성이 대답하여 가로되

여호와를 버리고 다른 신들 섬기는 일을 우리가 결단코 하지 아니하오리니
17.  이는 우리 하나님 여호와 그가 우리와 우리의 열조를 인도하여 애굽 땅 종 되었던 집에서 나오게 하시고

우리 목전에서 그 큰 이적들을 행하시고 우리가 행한 모든 길에서,

우리의 지난 모든 백성 중에서 우리를 보호하셨음이며
18.  여호와께서 또 모든 백성 곧 이 땅에 거하던 아모리 사람을 우리 앞에서 쫓아내셨음이라

그러므로 우리도 여호와를 섬기리니 그는 우리 하나님이심이니이다
19.  여호수아가 백성에게 이르되

너희가 여호와를 능히 섬기지 못할 것은

그는 거룩하신 하나님이시요 질투하는 하나님이시니

너희 허물과 죄를 사하지 아니하실 것임이라
20.  만일 너희가 여호와를 버리고 이방 신들을 섬기면

너희에게 복을 내리신 후에라도 돌이켜 너희에게 화를 내리시고 너희를 멸하시리라
21.  백성이 여호수아에게 말하되 아니니이다 우리가 정녕 여호와를 섬기겠나이다
22.  여호수아가 백성에게 이르되

너희가 여호와를 택하고 그를 섬기리라 하였으니 스스로 증인이 되었느니라

그들이 가로되 우리가 증인이 되었나이다
23.  여호수아가 가로되

그러면 이제 너희 중에 있는 이방신들을 제하여 버리고

너희 마음을 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께로 향하라
24.  백성이 여호수아에게 말하되

우리 하나님 여호와를 우리가 섬기고 그 목소리를 우리가 청종하리이다 한지라
25.  그 날에 여호수아가

세겜에서 백성으로 더불어 언약을 세우고 그들을 위하여 율례와 법도를 베풀었더라

1.  And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel,

and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers;

and they presented themselves before God.
2.  And Joshua said unto all the people,

Thus saith the LORD God of Israel,

Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time,

even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor:

and they served other gods.
3.  And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood,

and led him throughout all the land of Canaan,
14.  Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth:

and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt;

and serve ye the LORD.
15.  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve;

whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,

or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:

but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
16.  And the people answered and said,

God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
17.  For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt,

from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight,

and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
18.  And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land:

therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
19.  And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD:

for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
20.  If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods,

then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
21.  And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.
22.  And Joshua said unto the people,

Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him.

And they said, We are witnesses.
23.  Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you,

and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
24.  And the people said unto Joshua,

The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
25.  So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day,

and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

1 ヨシュアはイスラエルの全部族をシェケムに集め、

イスラエルの長老たち、そのかしらたち、さばきつかさたち、つかさたちを呼び寄せた。

15 もしも主に仕えることがあなたがたの気に入らないなら、

川の向こうにいたあなたがたの先祖たちが仕えた神々でも、

今あなたがたが住んでいる地のエモリ人の神々でも、あなたがたが仕えようと思うものを、

どれでも、きょう選ぶがよい。私と私の家とは、主に仕える。」
16 すると、民は答えて言った。

「私たちが主を捨てて、ほかの神々に仕えるなど、絶対にそんなことはありません。
17 私たちの神、主は、私たちと私たちの先祖たちを、エジプトの地、奴隷の家から導き上られた方、

私たちの目の前で、あの数々の大きなしるしを行い、私たちの行くすべての道で、

私たちの通ったすべての民の中で、私たちを守られた方だからです。
18 主はまた、すべての民、この地に住んでいたエモリ人をも、私たちの前から追い払われました。

私たちもまた、主に仕えます。主が私たちの神だからです。」
19 すると、ヨシュアは民に言った。

「あなたがたは主に仕えることはできないであろう。

主は聖なる神であり、ねたむ神である。あなたがたのそむきも、罪も赦さないからである。
20 もしあなたが主を捨てて、外国の神々に仕えるなら、あなたがたをしあわせにして後も、

主はもう一度あなたがたにわざわいを下し、あなたがたを滅ぼし尽くす。」
21 それで民はヨシュアに言った。「いいえ。私たちは主に仕えます。」
22 それでヨシュアは民に言った。

「あなたがたは、主を選んで、主に仕えるという、自分自身の証人である。」

すると彼らは、「私たちは証人です」と言った。
23 「今、あなたがたの中にある外国の神々を除き去り、イスラエルの神、主に心を傾けなさい。」
24 民はヨシュアに言った。「私たちは私たちの神、主に仕え、主の御声に聞き従います。」
25 それでヨシュアは、その日、民と契約を結び、シェケムで、おきてと定めを定めた。

1.  Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2.  I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3.  Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4.  We will not hide them from their children,

shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,

and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5.  For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel,

which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6.  That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born;

who should arise and declare them to their children:
7.  That they might set their hope in God,

and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

13.  형제들아 자는 자들에 관하여는 너희가 알지 못함을 우리가 원치 아니하노니

이는 소망 없는 다른 이와 같이 슬퍼하지 않게 하려 함이라
14.  우리가 예수의 죽었다가 다시 사심을 믿을진대

이와 같이 예수 안에서 자는 자들도 하나님이 저와 함께 데리고 오시리라
15.  우리가 주의 말씀으로 너희에게 이것을 말하노니

주 강림하실 때까지 우리 살아 남아 있는 자도 자는 자보다 결단코 앞서지 못하리라
16.  주께서 호령과 천사장의 소리와 하나님의 나팔로 친히 하늘로 좇아 강림하시리니

그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고
17.  그 후에 우리 살아 남은 자도 저희와 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니

그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라
18.  그러므로 이 여러 말로 서로 위로하라

13.  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep,

that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,

even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15.  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord,

that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,

and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17.  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,

to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

13 眠った人々のことについては、兄弟たち、あなたがたに知らないでいてもらいたくありません。

あなたがたが他の望みのない人々のように悲しみに沈むことのないためです。
14 私たちはイエスが死んで復活されたことを信じています。

それならば、神はまたそのように、

イエスにあって眠った人々をイエスといっしょに連れて来られるはずです。
15 私たちは主のみことばのとおりに言いますが、

主が再び来られるときまで生き残っている私たちが、

死んでいる人々に優先するようなことは決してありません。
16 主は、号令と、御使いのかしらの声と、神のラッパの響きのうちに、ご自身天から下って来られます。

それからキリストにある死者が、まず初めによみがえり、
17 次に、生き残っている私たちが、

たちまち彼らといっしょに雲の中に一挙に引き上げられ、空中で主と会うのです。

このようにして、私たちは、いつまでも主とともにいることになります。
18 こういうわけですから、このことばをもって互いに慰め合いなさい。

[열 처녀의 비유]
1.  그 때에 천국은 마치 등을 들고 신랑을 맞으러 나간 열 처녀와 같다 하리니
2.  그 중에 다섯은 미련하고 다섯은 슬기 있는지라
3.  미련한 자들은 등을 가지되 기름을 가지지 아니하고
4.  슬기 있는 자들은 그릇에 기름을 담아 등과 함께 가져갔더니
5.  신랑이 더디 오므로 다 졸며 잘새
6.  밤중에 소리가 나되 보라 신랑이로다 맞으러 나오라 하매
7.  이에 그 처녀들이 다 일어나 등을 준비할새
8.  미련한 자들이 슬기 있는 자들에게 이르되 우리 등불이 꺼져가니 너희 기름을 좀 나눠 달라 하거늘
9.  슬기 있는 자들이 대답하여 가로되

우리와 너희의 쓰기에 다 부족할까 하노니 차라리 파는 자들에게 가서 너희 쓸 것을 사라 하니
10.  저희가 사러 간 동안에 신랑이 오므로 예비하였던 자들은 함께 혼인 잔치에 들어가고 문은 닫힌지라
11.  그 후에 남은 처녀들이 와서 가로되 주여 주여 우리에게 열어 주소서
12.  대답하여 가로되 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 내가 너희를 알지 못하노라 하였느니라
13.  그런즉 깨어 있으라 너희는 그 날과 그 시를 알지 못하느니라

lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10.  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came;

and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11.  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12.  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13.  Watch therefore,

for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

5 花婿が来るのが遅れたので、みな、うとうとして眠り始めた。
6 ところが、夜中になって、『そら、花婿だ。迎えに出よ』と叫ぶ声がした。
7 娘たちは、みな起きて、自分のともしびを整えた。
8 ところが愚かな娘たちは、賢い娘たちに言った。

『油を少し私たちに分けてください。私たちのともしびは消えそうです。』
9 しかし、賢い娘たちは答えて言った。

『いいえ、あなたがたに分けてあげるにはとうてい足りません。

それよりも店に行って、自分のをお買いなさい。』
10 そこで、買いに行くと、その間に花婿が来た。

用意のできていた娘たちは、彼といっしょに婚礼の祝宴に行き、戸がしめられた。
11 そのあとで、ほかの娘たちも来て、『ご主人さま、ご主人さま。あけてください。』と言った。
12 しかし、彼は答えて、『確かなところ、私はあなたがたを知りません』と言った。
13 だから、目をさましていなさい。あなたがたは、その日、その時を知らないからです。
